(APG) - Takunori Taira dari Japan's Institute of Natural Science mempertunjukkan "Busi Laser" dimana menggunakan sistem sinar laser dan bukan elektroda, pada Konferensi Laser & Electro Optic di Baltimore.
"Busi laser" yang menggunakan material inti terbuat dari bahan yttrium-aluminum-gallium (YAG) ini diklaim dapat memperbaiki efisiensi konsumsi BBM serta emisi gas buang yang lebih rendah, karena proses pembakaran yang lebih baik, juga secara teoritis usia pakainya bisa sangat panjang dibanding busi konvensional karena busi laser tidak menggunakan elektroda, dimana elektroda pada busi konvensional akan menjadi aus seiring berjalannya waktu.
Team Taira yang didukung oleh Japan Science and Technical Agency konon sedang bekerja sama dengan perusahaan-perusahaan pembuat Busi terkemuka di Jepang, tetapi belum diketahui kapan busi laser ini akan diproduksi dalam skala komersial dan dijual bebas.
